Our History

Our story begins with a family of cooks, guided by the wisdom of our Kupuna, Anna Pau, and over 16 years of cooking experience at Ulu Ma’o Village of He’eia State Park in Kane’ohe, Hawai’i. From a young age, we learned the traditions of preparing Hawaiian food – dishes that brought our family and community together.

From Hawai‘i to Alaska

Unko Bill (Bill Ho’opai), along with Aunty Jo (Jo-Ann Bell) and Aunty Char (Charlene Goeas) came together to open our restaurant here in Anchorage Alaska. Our mission is simple: to share the beloved family-style foods of Hawai’i- the same ones we grew up eating – with our new community.

Cooking with Our Hula Hands

With our Hula Hands, we prepare, cook, and serve favorites like our famous Macaroni Salad, perfectly marinated Pulehu Chicken, and our Kalua Pig that tastes just like it came out of the imu. Every dish carries the spirit of aloha, connecting the flavors of Hawaii to Alaska and beyond.

More Than a Meal

For us, food is more than a meal – it’s a way to bring people together. That’s why our drive has always been to spread aloha through every bite, creating an everlasting taste now enjoyed throughout the United States. So come stop in talk story!
